MCSS
In 1964, through the efforts of the
people of St. Joseph's, Our Lady of the
Wayside, and Immaculate Conception
Parishes, the goodness of the late Dr.
Leonard B. Johnson, who gave the land,
and the Archdiocesan Building Fund - a
new school was built and dedicated to
Mother Catherine Spalding. Our
school colors are Navy Blue and White
and the school emblem is a Pelican.
The Pelican was chosen because of the
great care the mother bird gives to her
young. The school is a fully
accredited institution by the
Middle States Association of Colleges
and Schools. The Certificate of
Accreditation was received in the Spring
of 1988, for grades Kindergarten through
Eighth Grades.
the philosophy of Mother Catherine Spalding School
is that Catholic education is an
expression of the Evangelizing Mission
entrusted by Jesus to the Church.
We recognize the fundamentals of
education rest with parents and we share
in this responsibility. The four
basic purposes of the school are:
-
To
Teach the Message of Jesus
-
Academically Educate
-
Build Community
-
To
Serve Others
The entire environment and program of
our Catholic School is to assist our
students to grow in the knowledge and
experience of Jesus and their Lord,
Savior and Brother. This is a
vital process in a totally integrated
learning situation within a loving faith
community, form which the experience of
the student will carry them through a
lifetime of formal and informal
learning. Together with the
growing interpersonal relationships of
Home, School and Parishes, we all strive
to become a witnessing community of
Faith Believers with an awareness of
responsible service beyond this Faith
Community.
