Student Evaluations

Reports cards are issued quarterly.  A marking period is approximately 45 school days with home distribution of reports approximately 5 school days following the end of the marking period.  The first marking period report cards are distributed at the scheduled Parent Conference.  A mid-term progress report is issued to all students, grade 1 through 8, midway between report card periods.

GRADING SCALE

There are three separate grading scales that have been set up so as to be appropriate for the grade and maturity level of our students.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN / KINDERGARTEN

  • Reporting is a combination of appropriate skills mastery and individual teacher observances.

GRADES 1st through 3rd:

  • E - EXCELLENT - the student has mastered the subject matter and consistently performs with excellence and independence

  • G - GOOD - the student consistently achieves above average, skills exceed expectations

  • S - SATISFACTORY - the student is meeting the objectives and standards in the subject are

  • I - IMPROVEMENT NEEDED - the student is not meeting all of the objectives and is working below grade level in this subject, extra help and reinforcement is needed

  • U - UNSATISFACTORY - the student is meeting very few, if any, of the objectives or standards in the subject area

GRADES 4th - 8th:

  • A = 93 - 100 - Excellent progress at the level of instruction indicated.

  • B = 85 - 92 - Above average progress, etc.

  • C = 77 - 84 - Average progress, etc.

  • D = 70 - 76 - Below average progress, etc.

  • F = Below 70 - Unsatisfactory progress, etc.

Reporting of student progress is to take place at least 4 times per year. In conjunction with the distribution of the first report, a parent-teacher conference is to be held in accordance with Archdiocesan Policy. Other conferences can be scheduled as needed by either parent or teacher.

Grading standards take into consideration student mastery of objectives as demonstrated through daily class participation, home and daily classroom assignments, quizzes and tests, projects and reports, pupil self-evaluation and interviews.

NOTE: The Religion grade reflects the students’ knowledge of test material. It is not a reflection of the child’s spirituality.
