GOOD OF
THE ORDER
Financial Discussion
- There were several questions to the
school board regarding line items in the
Capital Projects statement. Two specific
areas of discussion were:
1.
Estate of Thomas Johnson Inheritance Money
(received, $45,000).
2.
Insurance Settlement for the Simms Case
($239,000).
Inheritance Money
- The HSA parents voiced a concern on how
this money was listed on the financial
statement. The school board reported that
the money was earmarked for installation
of the air conditioners with a portion of
that money being made available for
tuition assistance. The HSA would like to
see the two line items broken down into
estimated dollar figures and a new report
provided to the HSA.
Insurance Settlement
- Mrs. Cresce reported that $239,000 was
recovered from the Simms Case. However,
the Archdioceses will only allow the
school to put the money into savings and
use the money earned yearly from interest
(approximately 10K yearly). The parents
of the HSA were outraged over this
decision. The intention of the HSA is to
take this issue to the School Advisory
Board for resolution. More information
will be provided to the HSA as it is
available.
Air Conditioner Installation Project
- Vice President Burch updated the HSA on
the status of the project. Currently the
project is out for bid. All bids are due
back to the school by 19 February 2003 and
the bid will be awarded. The goal is to
have the bulk of the installation work
completed during Easter break. Vice
President Burch will keep the HSA posted,
as new information is available.
HSA Financial Obligation to the School
- A motion was made and accepted to pay
the school the remaining $15K of the $45K
yearly commitment. This money will be
signed over to the school where it will be
kept in a savings account and earmarked as
additional funds for the air conditioning
installation project, should it be needed.
WRAP UP -
The next Home and School meeting will be
held Wednesday, 19 March 2003 at 7:00p.m.
You can make a difference, please make
every effort to attend
