Uniform Information
Our
attractive uniforms help create an orderly
environment in the school, while breaking
down artificial barriers among students.
Many families find that uniforms keep
their clothing budget in check.
Dress Code: The dress code for
students in Catholic Schools is based on
many meaningful traditions. Namely,
we are all members of the same team with
similar values and goals as Christian
soldiers. The light of God shines
from within us and is not reflected in the
current dress trends. We are
different, unique and loved by God from
the fibers of who and what we are, and not
by the fibers of different garments that
artificially attempt to make us different.
The dress uniform code at MCSS is both
student and parent friendly and still
represents integrity and purposes of
uniformity and character of our school
colors.
A
Closer Look at Uniforms:
Classroom/Homeroom teachers and special
subject teachers use the first week of
school as a reinforcement of the student
dress code. During the first week of
school, students receive a friendly
reminder if they were not in compliance.
The first week of school is considered an
adjustment period for the students without
any penalties being imposed.
There
are two important fundamental
considerations. The first, the light
of God shines from within us and is not in
current dress trends, the latest fads in
jewelry, or in the perfect blush, gloss,
or color that is painted or brushed on our
faces or hands. the second
consideration is the fact that MCSS over
the years has been the most parent
friendly in outfitting student s for
school and still maintains a uniform dress
code.
The
uniform dress code policies and
enforcement has 100% endorsement by the
entire faculty. In all reality,
little has changed regarding uniform
clothing. the same specifics for
uniform dress code clothing are over 30
years old. What has changed,
however, are parent attitudes created by
pressure from their children, especially
middle school children, of what is
acceptable. For example, 10 years
ago a parent would not consider a fifth
grade girl wearing lipstick to
school; or a second grade boy wearing an
earring in his ear; or a seventh grade
girl wearing 10 rings, one on every finger
of her hand; or a parent helping her sixth
grade child spread glitter on her child's
hair and eye lids. All of these
cases were referred to the Principal as
uniform code violations and processed.
The faculty actively seeks in maintaining
the standard of excellence in school
uniform dress code policies.
